Davidson is currently partnering with an established organisation, which has a highly reputable brand and presence across SEQLD. With a focus on interiors - ceilings and partitions, this company has recently had a change in ownership and they are looking to bring in new management during the handover phase. They are a family owned and run business that has consistently delivered strong business results over the past 30 years.

Working exclusively with Davidson, our client is currently seeking an experienced General Manager of construction operations to join the team.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director (MD), you will shadow and ultimately take over from the previous owner, to take over the businesses Operations Management across a very flat structured hierarchy. You will be responsible for the company’s success across projects, from tendering through to completion. This includes scope development and review, achieving defined margins and staff development. Jobs are spread across suburban and regional retail, medical, aged care and education projects with repeat clients.

As the key link between all facets of the businesses projects and the MD, the responsibilities of the role will include (but will not be limited to):

Taking genuine ownership of construction and operational functions, including:

Working alongside the Marketing Director to enhance business development strategies;

Taking ownership of the projects from concept to handover

Bringing in new relationships to the company and maintaining existing relationships

Delivering projects within time, budget and margin

Manage all site staff to ensure engagement, development and safety

Work with MD on recruitment needs, growth strategies and business systems improvement

About You

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

Hold a QBCC license and operate as the company’s nominee

Extensive programme management

Extensive Project Management experience across ceilings and partitions or fit-out projects from $500k - $5m

Have held a General/Operations Manager position or similar level within a similar business

Significant contractual awareness

Ability to be actively involved with projects from tender to handover

Motivated to be engaged in the work you win

Ability to demonstrate having driven tangible, sustainable performance improvement whilst in a similar role, and of have developed and implemented processes and systems to deliver genuine performance improvement.

Have strong commercial and financial acumen and can contribute to business growth

Bring process and systems initiatives into the business

Bring client relationships
