Business Development Manager - engineering - Victoria

The purpose of this role is to facilitate the sale of companies pumps and accessories to customers and distributors, and work with the Sales Segment Manager to grow the brand into new markets and territories.

To provide advice and support on companies products to customers with a high degree of technical expertise. To foster long term sustainable client relationships based on trust, integrity and quality in the allocated sales territory.

Essential Functions

  • Establish, develop and maintain a customer network suitable for representation of the companies product and brand
  • Achieve agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within nominated timeframes
  • Structured client visits at set call cycles to ensure account growth
  • Enter and maintain client information and sales activities in the designated CRM software
  • Deliver technical presentations and product trainings to customers
  • Understand client requirements and assist the Internal Technical Sales Engineers to provide tailored quotations
  • Negotiate sale pricing in line with companies pricing strategy and confirm contract terms and conditions to meet both the client and company needs
  • Provide technical support as required for the wider team
  • Prepare reporting and deliver presentations as required for the Managing Director
  • Be responsible to the analysis and reporting of sales territory and sales market potential
  • Provide input and feedback on market requirements for management to make informed decisions to improve
  • Responsible for the adherence to the sales budget and pricing structure

  • Minimum Qualifications and experience - Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or similar, or proven practical experience in pumps or related industries

  • Ability to identify customer’s challenges with alternative products and provide technical information along with a rational analysis in order to complete the sale

  • Technical understanding of pumps and basic engineering principles
  • Proven strong sales and negotiation skills
  • High level of computer proficiency including CRM database experience and Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel
  • High degree of time management and organisational skills
  • Relationship management skills and openness to feedback
  • Proven ability to draft and execute a detailed business plan for allocated sales territory
  • Strong command of the English language, including professional level proficiency in reading and writing
