Based in Melbourne, the purpose of this role will be to grow the business into new markets and build on existing client relationships. The emphasis will be the Victorian market, however, there are ample growth opportunities to explore in NSW and Queensland, with an expectation of intermittent travel.

Key responsibilities for this role will include:

Relationship building with existing and new clients;

Identification, evaluation, tracking and reporting of opportunities;

Leading bids (including writing for critical bids) but no estimation;

Negotiation of contracts for successful tenders; and

Marketing and participation in industry events;

The role will be part of a national team of business development professionals including BD managers, estimators and administrative support. The role will perform in an integrated business structure with other key business functions including Operations, Contracts and Finance.

About You

As the successful candidate, you are self-motivated, proactive, thorough, persistent, collaborative and determined to succeed. Your prior experience in a business development role is essential; at least 5 years in water/wastewater markets but not necessarily in pipeline rehabilitation.

The ability to build meaningful and reliable relationships with clients, colleagues and partners;

A passion for negotiating to successful outcomes;

Sound experience and understanding of contracts;

A solid understanding of estimating and tendering processes, preferably with experience;

A thorough appreciation of marketing principles, preferably with experience;

General knowledge of engineering and hydraulic principles, preferably pipeline networks;

The ability to prioritise often conflicting activities and schedule your time and that of others;
