Business Development Manager (BDM) for Commercial Builder based in Ballarat. Perm role. $160k - 200k range

Our client specialises in commercial construction, in particular health, education, and government institutional facilities as well as private projects such as retail outlets and shops, and industrial projects and factories. The company is a long established business that has grown to become a leading commercial construction company in Victoria. They specialise in projects up to $30 million, with projects serviced from multiple Victorian Regional offices.

Your new role

This role leads the Project Development department to actively improve the company’s market position, achieve financial growth and secure more building projects from the earliest time possible. The role includes building key customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, working through prospective projects with potential clients and negotiating deals.

The role requires the Business Development Manager (BDM) to work with internal staff to meet the challenges of business development and address a variety of opportunities including Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and Design & Construction (D&C) projects. The role also requires the BDM to collaborate with Directors and provide guidance for strategic growth of the business. The BDM will be responsible for the development of a pipeline of business coming into the company, and have a thorough knowledge of the company’s capabilities, the market conditions, solutions and services the company can provide, and the company’s competitors.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction

Knowledge and experience in ECI and D&C projects and process engineering

Previous experience in a similar role; including practical knowledge of quality management and continuous improvement practices

Interpersonal and relationship management skills

Demonstrated ability to lead teams of people and deliver complex tasks

Demonstrated ability to develop strong lasting relationships with clients.

High level of knowledge of the building industry

Strong computer and analytical skills including working with complex spreadsheets and producing professional reports

Ability to develop sound forecasting tools and reporting against targets and budgets
