An enviable opportunity has presented itself to lead and drive a Specialist division of a Blue-chip global player within the Rail / Infrastructure Industry with a focus on track maintenance systems.

Our client is a customer focused and solution driven global rail organisation. Nationally, they provide a range of track maintenance options specifically chosen to suit the expanding network of rail infrastructure.

The current team servicing the local market are based in Sydney, they are looking to continue the group’s expansion down South with a passionate and experienced professional who is required to lead the business and further expand its footprint locally.

Servicing government, private enterprise and rail construction contractors through to minor maintenance they are looking to expand their client base and further explore current and new relationships within other associated sectors within the Southern Region, beginning with Victoria.

The State BDM, will maintain and grow existing customers/client relationships, drive suitable financial growth with the emphasis of maintaining and engaging existing customers and clients together with new client development.

The role will also focus on regional client development, managing government / private tenders, as well as assisting with commercial contract reviews.

There will be a strong requirement for the person to have exceptional technical understanding of complex engineering programs and applications. Crucial to this role will be the ability to sell in a consultative and credible manner.

To be considered for this role, you must possess:

A strong, successful and proven sales background within the rail industry

Proven working experience as an Engineer, Business Development Manager, Sales Executive or a similar and relevant role with more than 10 years Rail Infrastructure experience

Strong sales results and relationship development

Previous and ongoing experience in a new business development function

Has developed strong relationships with Government and Private track owners, Rail Contractors from Tier 1 though to minor maintenance and inspection contractors

Essential for success you must be able to:

Drive a growth strategy focused both on financial gain and customer satisfaction within the Southern Region

Conduct research to identify new markets, customer needs and competitor impact on the market

Arrange business meetings with prospective clients (likely) interstate as well

Promote the company’s products/services addressing or predicting clients’ objectives

Review sales contracts ensuring adherence to law-established rules and guidelines

Maintain records of sales, revenue, invoices, etc.

Provide trustworthy feedback and after-sales support

Build long-term relationships with new and existing customers, suppliers and engineering consultancies

Working knowledge of PC applications – MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, databases and engineering program applications
