National Parks and Wildlife Service manages, conserves and cares for land in national parks and reserves. NPWS links customer, conservation and cultural outcomes in a sustainable way by building participation in the management and use of parks.

About the Role:

This role is part of the new Strategic Infrastructure Projects Branch, Park Programs Division, National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS). NPWS has been successful in attracting unprecedented investment in national parks visitor infrastructure and experiences, to be implemented over four years.  Nine identified projects aim to increase nature-based tourism, boost regional visitor economies and improve community wellbeing by delivering high quality visitor experiences for generations into the future. All projects align with our NPWS vision of conservation, celebrating and respecting our rich culture and heritage, working for and with our communities, and providing outstanding natural spaces and engaging experiences. 

Primary purpose of the role

In this role you will manage the development of business cases to achieve funding approval for initiatives that create new visitor opportunities in NSW national parks, and other initiatives that meet the agency’s strategic plan

You will contribute specific experience in nature-based tourism development, with an understanding of environmentally sensitive locations

Essential requirements:

Project management skills and experience with an understanding of contemporary best practice in procurement, tendering and contract preparation, in managing project teams, consultants and contractors, and in applying environmental safety and risk management policies and systems.

Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing and reviewing strategic plans, policies and programs, and in providing strategic and operational advice and recommendations to senior management

Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
