We have an opportunity for a Business Operations Lead in a permanent or part time capacity. The role will be based out of our Barton office with scope for flexibility in a hybrid capacity once established in the role.

The Business Operations Lead plays a crucial role in supporting the team by managing bid and sales activities, processes, and governance to drive business success. This role also oversees day-to-day contract operations, ensuring client engagement, growth, efficiency, productivity, and alignment with the company's strategic goals.

 

Main Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Contract Operations: Manage day-to-day contract operations, ensuring client engagement, growth, efficiency, productivity, and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Client Relationship Management: Strengthen client relationships through targeted contract management.
  • Bid and Sales Management: Support bid and sales activities, oversee processes and governance to ensure business success.
  • Tenders and Proposals: Handle tenders and proposals continuously in the background.
  • Market Strategy: Streamline market approaches and enhance the company's value proposition.
  • Pastoral Care: Provide consistent support and a point of contact for consulting and DSTG team members.
  • Resource Management: Manage resources effectively and coordinate with various departments.
  • Operational Policies and Procedures: Implement and oversee operational policies and procedures.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Establish effective business relationships with key stakeholders internally and externally to support delivery, administration, management, and financial tasks.
  • Administrative and Data Management: Maintain data currency of Customer Management System platforms to support business management and reporting tasks. Administer service delivery requirements, maintain the case study portfolio and oversee quality control of CV portfolios. Advise and inform on process improvements as part of wider business operational efficiency.
  • Event and Activity Management: Manage events and activities, including prioritisation of tasks and coordination of calendars.

 

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Australian citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Defence Security clearance if necessary.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred; advanced degrees or project management certifications (PMP, PRINCE2) advantageous.
  • Proven experience in managing bid and sales activities, contract operations, and market strategies, preferably within the consulting or technology sector.
  • Experience in building and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a fast paced Operations, Business Development or Client / Customer Management role.
  • Proficiency with Customer Management System platforms (HubSpot, Learning Management System, Astute, Dataverse, SharePoint).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); MS Project and Power BI skills advantageous.
  • Excellent administration and information management skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Well-developed activity management skills, including prioritisation of tasks and coordination of calendars and events.
  • Strong writing skills, including drafting, editing, and proofreading documents within a templated style framework.
  • Task and outcomes-focused, with a proactive and supportive approach during high-tempo periods.
  • Confident and capable communicator, able to listen, assimilate information quickly, and act promptly.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience managing client/customer expectations and conflict resolution.
  • Confident and comfortable reinforcing policy and procedural guidance.
